It’s official!! I’m the proud mommy of a 2 year old! Kai’s 2nd birthday was yesterday, and what an amazing, fun filled day it was.
Watching Kai grow into the person that he is today has been tough… I mean… he’s growing up so fast! It’s definitely a double edged sword when your watching your baby grow into their own person. He’s got personality, he’s got his own style, and he’s so funny. Watching him hit his milestones (often times earlier than expected), has been both exciting and rewarding. He started walking at 9 months, he’s got quite the vocabulary, and he’s already counting to 10! He loves reading, dancing, singing, and playing musical instruments. He’s just an all around amazing kid, and he deserves to be celebrated!
For Kai’s birthday we started out with some beach fun. Last year we celebrated his first birthday at the beach with close family and friends, but the execution was a bit rocky. Getting everyone to show up to carpool on time put us behind schedule and made for a rough start. Although the party went on successfully, we decided to take an easier route this time around. This year, I was selfish! I made the executive mommy decision that it’d be less stressful and more fun with just a party of 3. So Jan, Kai and I set out to the beach first thing Saturday morning, without uttering a word of our secret randevu to anyone else. It was a gorgeous day and was the perfect get away for us. Kai had an absolute blast.
Sunday was Kai’s actual birthday, so we invited everyone over for some great food, laughs, and most importantly to celebrate this wonderful child of mine. The “theme” was Sesame Street… Quotes around theme because we kind of fell short on the decor. We’re a family of foodies, so we put more focus, time, and energy into the menu… We successfully highlighted all of Kai’s favorite foods, music, and a few Sesame Street characters throughout the party. This Elmo cake baked and decorated by Kai’s daddy, was the highlight of the dessert table, and everyone’s tastebuds.

All in all it was a great weekend. It surely made getting up for work today a struggle. But Kai is always worth it. I’d loose sleep anyday knowing that it would benefit in his happiness. He’s my little love bug, and I’d do anything for him.
What did you do for your toddlers birthday? Did you go all out? I’d love to hear from you.
xoxo
